LYRICS
Annie, can I sleep on the floor tonight? Because I just can’t make it to bed I’m still having night sweats
The same as when we were kids The same as when we were kids
Tomorrow we could go out walking Though we wouldn’t say too much Praying to god, when I get older
I’ll know when to shut up
I’ll know when to shut up
You asked me to tell you a story Because you’re still feeling restless Times may change, we may grow older
But not much changes but that
Not much changes but that
Remember when we’d lie to our parents? Still too young to get in
Times may change, we may grow older
But not much changes but that
Not much changes but that
So, Annie, can I sleep on the floor tonight? Because I just can’t make it to bed I’m still having night sweats
The same as when we were kids The same as when we were kids The same as when we were kids The same as when we were kids

BEHIND THE LYRICS
Similar to the opening track, ‘Same as When We Were Kids’ is a song that is about love and loss and the liminal space between the two. Reflecting on a childhood now gone and somewhat longing for that now. Only because you are feeling yourself slipping away into what is next. The very end of something can be the hardest because it means truly letting go.
