After being interrogated till 3 am in the morning yesterday. The agency began raiding Tamil Nadu higher education minister K Ponmudy and his MP son Gautham Sigamani on 17th June at 7 locations including Chennai. Yesterday, the searches have revealed incriminating documents, 81.7 lakh in cash and British pounds and Ponumdy's assets worth Rs. 41.9 crore were freezed. The agency said that it's probe in this case revolves around an alleged issuance of red sand mining license at five locations illegally by DMK minister K. Ponmudy who was the minister of mines between 2007and 2011. The ED has also said that Ponmudy had allegedly issued illegal licenses for red-sand mining to his son, his relatives and some benami holders and a huge amount of hawala fund was generated.
