Praia dos Ingleses – Florianópolis, SC
Localizada no norte da Ilha de Santa Catarina, a Praia dos Ingleses é um dos destinos mais populares de Florianópolis. Com aproximadamente 5 km de extensão, suas areias claras e águas azuladas atraem turistas durante o ano inteiro, principalmente argentinos e uruguaios, que encontram na região uma infraestrutura completa de hotéis, bares, restaurantes e comércio.
O nome “Ingleses” remonta ao século XVIII, quando um navio inglês naufragou na costa da praia. Os sobreviventes teriam permanecido por ali, influenciando a cultura local. Ainda hoje, existem histórias e registros que alimentam essa lenda, conferindo um charme histórico ao lugar.
A praia é bastante democrática: no lado direito, as águas são mais calmas e ideais para banhistas e famílias. Já no lado esquerdo, as ondas ganham força e atraem surfistas em busca de boas sessões, especialmente no outono e inverno, quando os swells são mais consistentes. Além do surf, a pesca é uma tradição antiga entre os moradores, especialmente a pesca artesanal e a tainha, durante o famoso período de inverno.
Apesar de ser muito urbanizada, a Praia dos Ingleses ainda mantém viva parte da cultura açoriana, visível em festas populares, arquitetura e na hospitalidade dos moradores. É também uma das poucas praias da ilha que tem vida intensa mesmo fora da alta temporada, funcionando como um verdadeiro bairro com escolas, clínicas e centros comerciais.

Ingleses Beach – Florianópolis, SC
Located in the northern part of Santa Catarina Island, Ingleses Beach is one of the most popular destinations in Florianópolis. Stretching about 5 km, its light sands and blue waters attract visitors year-round, especially from Argentina and Uruguay, thanks to a full infrastructure of hotels, bars, restaurants, and shops.
The name “Ingleses” (which means "Englishmen") dates back to the 18th century, when an English ship reportedly wrecked along the coast. The survivors are said to have remained in the area, influencing the local culture. This story continues to add historical charm to the beach.
Ingleses is a versatile beach: the right side has calmer waters, ideal for swimming and families. On the left side, stronger waves attract surfers, especially during autumn and winter when the swells are more consistent. Fishing is also a longstanding tradition here, with artisanal methods and the seasonal mullet fishing being highlights.
Despite its urbanization, Ingleses still preserves some of its Azorean roots, reflected in traditional festivals, architecture, and the warm hospitality of its residents. It is also one of the few beaches on the island with year-round activity, functioning as a fully developed neighborhood with schools, clinics, and shopping centers.
