With a massive remix package of Nitin's 'Latenightlife' release and a great 'Stimulus Package' compilation providing a raucous opening to the 2012 year, My Favorite Robot Records keeps the pressure high with a rare release from Jori Hulkkonen and Phonogenic as Discemi.

Those without extensive trainspotter knowledge could be forgiven for being unaware of the DisCemi moniker, with just two original releases out there it's an undiscovered gem which makes 'Real Audio' for MFR just that little bit special.

While ignorance of the compact catalogue of DisCemi catalogue is possible, it's unlikely that the names Jori Hulkkonen and Tuomas 'Phonogenic' Salmela will be new to anyone with more than a passing interest in house or techno -­‐ between them, the Finnish pair have notched up so many releases for so many labels-­‐of-­‐ note that it would be tedious to list them.

Brutal, uncompromising drum programming combined with otherworldly synths, interstellar wisdom, Nordic eccentricity, abused filters and an inordinate amount of blood, sweat and tears is how 'Real Audio' sounds. Picture two Norske men, semi-­‐naked and communing with their inner selves while manipulating electronics and you're on the way to 'getting' the 'Real Audio' EP.

From the aggressive depths of 'Moon Cinema' and the soaring electronic disco of 'FM2AM' via the damaged circuits of 'Ancient Engineers' through to the imposing sonics of 'JourneyTo A Spectral Mind', the 'Real Audio' EP is a brazen cynic-­‐shifter and is not to be missed.
