We all want to save money on our insurance, right?

It's almost as if by default, the first thing we resort to doing is increasing our deductibles to lower the premium.

"Hey insurance company, I'll pay more if I have a claim if you'll charge me less premium, deal?"

It makes sense, but it may be too good to be true.

On average, a family with two vehicles with "full coverage" may only save $10/month by raising their deductibles from $500 to $1,000.

If you are the type that would rather pay a claim out pocket that is 8, 9, or even $1,200 then a higher deductible probably does may sense to you.

You would rather pay maybe even a little more than your deductible to avoid turning a claim in, and ruining your perfect driving record. I get it.

But...if you are only saving $10/month, and get hit with a $1,000 deductible rather than $500, are you still going to be happy with your decision?
