Replacing old railroad water tank bands. Repairing old water tank.

Описание к видео Replacing old railroad water tank bands. Repairing old water tank.

The original water tank used brass rod tank bands. However, the brass rod bands were to stiff. They didn’t conform well to the tank staves. Also moisture changes, causing the tank to expand or contract, would loosen
the bands and they would slip down unevenly no matter how I tried to tension or support them.

I found low profile nylon cable ties that are UV resistant. These have connectors which lie flat when pulled tight as apposed to the more traditional cable ties which protrude when drawn up. They are also elastic enough to conform well to the tank staves and hold tightly enough to stay straight and not slip down when moisture changes cause the tank to expand or contract.
