The Lima BR39 picks up electricity from the right hand side locomotive wheels with a live metal baseplate. The front pony truck also picks up current. The current is then transmitted via the leading coupled axle to the zamak lower ballast block, which in turn is connected to the motor connection cable via a sprung copper connection plate. The other polarity is picked up by the left hand side tender wheels.
