Le "chip and charge" consiste à réaliser un slice de revers appuyé en utilisant le poids du corps et à "charger" vers le filet pour tenter de conclure le point au filet. La balle étant slicée, "chopée" ou "chipée", sa rotation va être dans le sens contraire d'une balle liftée. Elle va ainsi avoir tendance à freiner au moment de l'impact au sol avec un rebond bas.
Le légendaire Yannick Noah qui aura atteint la troisième place mondiale maîtrisait ce schéma de jeu à la perfection réalisant des points régulièrement spectaculaires voire hors du commun.

The "chip and charge" consists in performing a strong backhand slice by using the weight of the body and in advancing toward the net in order to try to finish the point at the net. The ball is sliced, choped or chiped so that its rotation will be in the opposite direction to the topspin ball. The ball will tend to slow down at the time of the impact on the court with a low bounce.
The legendary tennis player Yannick Noah who will have reached the world number 3 rank on the ATP tour perfectly mastered that game plan performing spectacular or incredible actions.
