Chris Hopkins & the new swing stars of tomorrow blow all the dust off - despite avant-garde or pop fashion trends - and transport straight-ahead jazz into the present day: German-American pianist and saxophonist Chris Hopkins, who has received numerous awards, is one of the busiest artists in the world, having performed over 5,000 live concerts worldwide. For over three decades now, he has been demonstrating how to successfully live his dream and bring together and inspire countless people and fans with his music. Since the 90s, Chris Hopkins himself has often been the youngest member of the band on stage. Now he is delighted to present for the first time some of the most talented jazz musicians of a new generation, all between the ages of 23 & 33, the fantastic “Young Lions” Thimo Niesterok, Tijn Trommelen, Caris Hermes and Mathieu Clement. After the great success of “Vol.1”, here the second pre-release single “Jive At Five” from his upcoming album “Chris Hopkins meets the Young Lions: Live! Vol. 2”, coming in 2025. “Jive At Five” focuses in particular on the virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Mathieu Clement, here on vibraphone, and Chris Hopkins himself, for the first time on the album as alto saxophonist. “Jive at Five” was composed by Count Basie's trumpeter Harry 'Sweets' Edison. Chris Hopkins played this title with 'Sweets' and parts of the original Basie band at a Basie tribute festival in the mid-90s. After the concert, 'Sweets' said to the audience: “Count Basie would have been proud of this young man”, a special accolade for the then “Young Lion” Chris Hopkins, who now passes on the baton of swinging Jazz to a new generation.

Nach dem großen Erfolg von „Vol.1“, hier die zweite Vorab-Single „Jive At Five“ aus seinem kommenden Album „Chris Hopkins meets the Young Lions: Live! Vol. 2“, das im Jahr 2025 erscheint. Bei „Jive At Five“ stehen vor allem der virtuose Multiinstrumentalist Mathieu Clement, hier am Vibraphon, und Chris Hopkins selbst, zum ersten Mal auf dem Album als Altsaxophonist, im Mittelpunkt. „Jive at Five“ wurde von Count Basies Trompeter Harry ‚Sweets‘ Edison komponiert. Chris Hopkins spielte diesen Titel mit 'Sweets' und Teilen der Original-Basie-Band bei einem Basie-Tribute-Festival Mitte der 90er Jahre. Nach dem Konzert sagte 'Sweets' zum Publikum: „Count Basie wäre stolz auf diesen jungen Mann gewesen“, ein besonderes Lob für den damaligen ‚Young Lion‘ Chris Hopkins, der nun den Staffelstab des swingenden Jazz an eine neue Generation weitergibt.
