The GNS-led voyage to the Hunga volcano has launched onboard the R/V Tangaroa. A crew of international scientists will undertake the most comprehensive post-2022 eruption surveys of the submarine volcano to date to better understand what caused the powerful eruption and what this can tell us about Aotearoa New Zealand's own submarine volcanoes.
