Gynecomastia is basically treated with surgery. Now depending on the kind of surgery that you undergo you will have different kind of scars. As a plastic surgeon it is our job to make sure that these scars are well hidden within the normal contours of the skin. If it is a liposuction alone, then entry point of liposuction instrument which is about three to four millimeters, your plastic surgeon may choose to put it inside the nipple areolar complex or in the axilla where it is not seen. These are about three to four millimeters depending on the size of the cannula that is used and they are never ever seen. In case you have a gland excision then your plastic surgeon may have to take a small cut, a half moon cut going from three o'clock position to nine o'clock position on the areola through which he will approach the entire breast, remove the glandular part of the breast. So this will leave a very faint line going from three o'clock to nine o'clock position. This probably constitutes the treatment about 95 to 97% of all Gynecomastia surgeries. In certain people where there is excess of skin sag then the skin has to be excised the excess skin above the nipple areola has to be excised so that the nipple areola is brought to the medium level. So in such a case you may see a circular scar going all around the nipple area or complex. However this is very fake it is invisible and with time and some amount of anti scar treatment. This will completely fade away and nobody will be able to make out that you have had a Gynecomastia surgery. So depending on the kind of surgery that you do it may be just be a three to four millimeter small puncture wound, a small half moon shaped scar, or a complete circle around your nipple areolar complex.
