Nocturnal Animals
A large part of the fauna of Bangladesh is nocturnal.
They vary from other animals in terms of behavior and nature.
They sleep during the day and forage for feeding at night.
They are referred to as nocturnal animals since they are active at night.
The hearing, smelling, and seeing capabilities of nocturnal animals are usually strong.
These conscious and sharp senses allow them to move freely in the dark.
Their eyes can be seen as bright red, orange, or yellow depending on different light reflections.
This nocturnal wildlife includes various species of mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and birds, such as Owls, Bats, Porcupines, Jackals, Civets, Jungle Cats, etc.

Owls are nocturnal birds with keen hearing.
They live in tree sockets and hunt at night.
Their keen eyesight plays a vital role in finding prey at night.
Owls are nocturnal birds of prey with curved and sharp beaks and claws that help them catch their prey.
The Nightjar birds also sleep during the day and forage for feeding at night like Owls.
They hunt flying insects in the darkness of night.

Bats are quite common among mammals.
They are nocturnal animals.
They make loud noises while flying that exceed the human hearing range.
So, they use their sense of hearing to navigate.
Most Bats feed on fruits and small insects.

The majority of frogs in this country are nocturnal.
During the day, all species of Tree Frogs hide in tree sockets or behind the leaves.
They go out to forage for feeding after dusk.

Jackals are the cleverest of nocturnal animals.
The howl of Jackals at dusk is an integral part of the rural environment.
They usually hide in bushes during the day and go hunting in the early hours of the night.
They feed on small animals, insects, fruits, etc.
Also, they help to keep the environment clean by feeding on waste.

Among mammals, Porcupines are smaller nocturnal animals than others.
They have short quills on their backs.
They cannot see well but can hear well.
They make special noises with their noses while hunting, and inflate their quills as they sense danger.

Various lizard species and some snake species are also nocturnal.

Nocturnal Animals do not have food conflict with diurnal animals for being active at night.
They have fewer foes as others sleep at night.
So, they maintain the balance of nature by maintaining their food chain.
They also help control harmful insects and disperse seeds.
But these beneficial nocturnal animals are gradually declining from nature.
Therefore, it is important to take adequate measures and raise awareness to conserve them.
