Kennedy Okonkwo is a man whose story is worth knowing. Kennedy Onyekachi Okonkwo, born in a family of eight as the fifth child in the family, hails from Ojoto, Anambra State, Nigeria, but spent much of his years in Lagos, starting in Alagomeji, Yaba. Kennedy Okonkwo was born on October 12, 1977 into a Christian home.
Urged on by his father who is a lover of education, Kennedy Okonkwo passed his primary, secondary, tertiary and post-graduate education with outstanding results. He did his primary and secondary education at Mobolaji High School in Lagos, after which he was admitted to the University of Ibadan to study psychology. He also obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from Lagos State University.
The turning points in Kennedy Okonkwo's life began when he lost his father when he was just 16 years old. He was still in high school at the time, and the tragedy impacted his life; for he knew what the loss really meant. His father greatly influenced his education. For the father believed that the greatest gift he could give his children was education. His father believed that education would end poverty and be an essential tool for survival. Unlike the typical case where mothers are primarily concerned with their children's education, Kennedy's father was much more interested in his education because he intermittently supervised him at school, helped him with his homework, and, most importantly, paid his tuition.
When he lost his father, his mother, who was a caterer, could not meet their living expenses. So they were soon evicted from their apartment. Soon after, they were soon evicted from his mother's store where they stayed. This was a very sad thing for Kennedy. When he came home from school to "the house," he would meet his family under the Ikeja Bridge where they lived.
