DIY Vive Tracker MOCAP Suit || Tutorial

Enjoy this quick tutorial that shows you how to make your very own motion capture suit using Vive Trackers. This will make it so you don't have to strap on all those separate trackers every time. you can just put on one suit instead. Steps written below:

Get These Items:
1. Sewing Machine - $85

2.Cheap Scuba Suit (Make sure its big enough so the ankles of the suit go down over your feet just a little bit, If it wont stretch that far then you can skip the feet and use your tracker straps for this part) - $26

(And you will also need a Vive Tracker setup with Base Stations. These are around $130 each) 3 Pack Of Trackers: $430

Step 1:
Mark the suit with the whiteout where the trackers will be placed.
Hip, Chest, 2 Feet, 2 Elbows, 2 Knees

Step 2:
Cut a 2 1/2 inch square of Neoprene Fabric. Do this for as many trackers as you have.

Step 3:
Cut a 2 inch square of the Silicone Sheet. Do this for as many trackers as you have also. This being smaller then the fabric will give you enough room to place your stitches. You may adjust this if needed.

Step 4:
Use the Hole Punch that came with the Grommet Kit and punch holes in the center of both the silicone and neoprene that you just cut.

Step 5:
Punch the grommets thru each of the holes you just made. MAKE SURE you have the grommet the correct direction or you can break the grommet. See the instructions that came with the grommet kit.

Step 6:
Place a silicone piece underneath neoprene fabric piece. and put both of these over the adapter screw.

The layers will be this (Bottom to Top):
Adapter Screw without bolt type piece
Silicone with grommet
Neoprene with grommet

Step 7:
Using your sewing machine. Sew this piece on to your scuba suit where the whiteout dots are. I was only able to use the sewing machine for the chest, hip, and feet. I had to hand sew the elbows and knees. It's totally fine to sew all of them, just make sure it won't come undone.

Step 8:
Open up Mocap Fusion VR on steam, or VR Chat and enjoy your new Mocap Suit!!!!!
