Fake & Fatal Community Conversation

Описание к видео Fake & Fatal Community Conversation

In the past several months, several unsuspecting teens in the Washington County area have overdosed on fake pills that have been unknowingly laced with fentanyl. This alarming trend has prompted us to partner with the Beaverton Police Department, Washington County Sheriff's Office and Washington County Public Health Department on an educational campaign raising awareness about the dangers of buying pills and powders on social media.

Overdose deaths involving synthetic opioids were nearly 12 times higher in 2019 than in 2013. In Washington County, emergency medical personnel say they’ve seen a dramatic increase in opioid-related overdoses.

This week, we’ll be sharing information for students and parents. We’ll be providing professional development and training for our principals. We’ll also be hosting a virtual event called “Community Conversation about Fentanyl: Fake & Fatal” on Thursday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. In addition to local experts, we’ll hear from Sunset High School parents Jennifer and Jon Epstein, who recently lost their son, Cal, to fentanyl poisoning. Please join us for this important and potentially life-saving conversation.

Your child’s life is worth the time to learn more.
