JAMES IRWIN: Space Cadet- S5E2 [4k Documentary]

James Irwin was an American astronaut and United States Air Force officer who is best known for his role as lunar module pilot on the Apollo 15 mission, which was the fourth manned mission to land on the Moon. He was born in 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering from the United States Naval Academy in 1951.

Irwin joined NASA in 1966 as part of the fifth group of astronauts selected for the space agency. In 1971, he flew on the Apollo 15 mission as the lunar module pilot, landing on the Moon with mission commander David Scott and command module pilot Alfred Worden. He spent over 18 hours outside the lunar module, conducting scientific experiments and collecting Moon rocks.

After the Apollo 15 mission, Irwin retired from NASA and the Air Force. He later worked as a public speaker, author, and Christian evangelist, and was involved in various charitable and business ventures. He died in 1991 at the age of 61.
