DIY boat rigging to save money! This week is all about replacing our Passport 42’s standing rigging. In case you don’t know what that is, its all of the stainless steel wire cables that hold up our mast and a is very important part of a sailboat. We found a crack in a deck level fitting. This prompted making an appointment with the local professional rigger, who suggested he do a thorough rig inspection. While the aluminum mast and fittings are thankfully in good shape, he found too many questionable areas on the wire cables themselves and the fittings that were on the ends of them.

So now, the moment has finally arrived. Our new rigging has been delivered. Don't look down!
