The story of Shrawan Kumar is a very popular story from our Indian Mythology. It is a story of a boy named Shrawan who was devoted to his parents. His parents were aged and he, to fulfill their wish, carried them around on a pilgrimage. On the way one day, his parents felt thirsty. Shrawan went in search of water and there got accidentally killed by King Dasharatha's arrow. Knowing of the death of their son, the old parents fell dead too but cursed king Dashratha that he too would suffer from the pain of parting from his son.

Even after all these years, Shrawan Kumar is spoken about as an ideal son.
Like all the stories from Indian Mythology, the story of Shrawan Kumar too has so many teachings. To be devoted to one's parents and never to be blind in actions like king Dasharatha aimed his arrow, blindly, without the prey in sight.
