DAYTON -- Just four days before Christmas, airports are usually busy this time of year with homecomings.  Here at Dayton International, that tradition continued for a returning soldier and his family.Anxious and excited are the two words that best describe the feeling for many people at Dayton International waiting for their loved ones coming home for the holidays.But for the Buker family, it's been nine months in the making.  Doused in camouflage and old glory in tow, the Bukers waited for their beloved returning soldier, Army Specialist, Matthew Buker, who was finally coming home. "He left in March, and now the end of the year coming into Christmas, we're just thrilled he's going to be home for Christmas" said Mike Buker, Father of returning soldier.Until three weeks ago, the family thought Matthew had to remain at his duty station in Colorado after returning from Afghanistan as a combat medic.Buker's surprise return had all the makings for an unforgettable Christmas present. "My two younger girls, they had no idea, they knew he was home from Afghanistan but they thought he was going to have to stay in Colorado for Christmas" said Billi Buker, Wife of returning soldier.As Matthew walked down the hallway from the gate area, his 6 year old daughter's face lights up"I told my wife a while ago, this was the first Christmas in years I've been looking forward to, I'm ecstatic" said SPC Matthew Buker, Returning Home."I'm just glad to have him home and have my family together for Christmas" said Billi Buker.Matthew says he plans to spend much of his time home with family.Connect with ABC 22/FOX 45 Reporter Kavontae Smalls on Facebook and Twitter.
