This peak detector circuit determines when a change in direction occurs and sends a signal out that a change has occurred and then resets the sample and hold circuit to look for the next change in direction. Resulting in being able to report both peaks and valleys.

This video shows the peak detection sub circuit working with different inputs, sine, square, triangle, pulse, noise, step, and analog. The Peak detector has 3 outputs, and uses op amps for level shifting, sample and holds, analog switches, comparators, and logic gates.
