there is nothing more american than a chain restaurant and thanks to social media, i have learned that hillstone restaurant is america's most loved upscale chain restaurant that even celebrity chefs and restaurateurs are a fan! since 1977 hillstone has been serving american classics at a high quality consistently and sophisticatedly. from artichoke spinach dips, crispy chicken sandwiches, french dips and more!

as a canadian from the suburbs, i too enjoy a good chain restaurant so i was curious to see how it compared to places like applebee's. thanks to joey's, canada's upscale chain restaurant, when i was told that sushi was a must to start the meal, i did not hesitate and to no surprise the coconut shrimp roll was delicious. expensive for only 8 pieces but still good nevertheless. another must order for the starter, spinach & artichoke dip bc every good chain spot needs a good dip. hillstone's was a super cheesy and gooey goodness, definitely lived up to the hype and i would come back for.

moving on to the mains, star of the show was ding's crispy chicken sandwich. the epitome of what a sandwich at lunch should be between the texture of the layers and size. as for the french dip, it was good but i personally find a french dip sandwich underwhelming/one note even w the jus and horseradish. to finish, a classic key lime pie. a sweet and tarty ending to the meal. overall, hillstone knows how to make the classics but nothing too noteworthy!
