Chevy Colorado Passlock Security Fix

Описание к видео Chevy Colorado Passlock Security Fix

Sorry for the video quality and angles, this is more of a PSA to help fix a very annoying manufacturing flaw. I apologize for my awkwardness or rambling during the video. In the end this was a cheap fix, it took awhile to get resolved and took alot of research and trial and error but in the end it was better than paying someone over $550 for a part that cost me $20 and time. To my knowledge this is a problem that is fairly common among 2004-2012 Colorado/Canyons and I believe any switch that you take off a truck will fit as long as your truck is between 2004-2012 and the truck you take if off is between 2004-2012, however I'm not sure if all the housing are the same. I hope this video helped, and if you have any questions or need help feel free to comment and I'll answer as soon as possible. I will also put the relearn/reprogram procedure step by step below that was submitted by someone who reviewed the switch on Amazon, big shoutout to him too.

COMMENT FROM BUYER WHO BOUGHT THE SWITCH:

How to reprogram

I had to reprogram six times to get it to start so do not give up. I found this procedure on the internet. Reprogramming the System – Step by Step Step 1 – Attempt to start the vehicle. It will crank, but not run. The security light will be flashing on and off. Leave the key in the ‘run’ position for exactly 10 minutes, then the security light will stay solid or go off. Step 2 – Turn the key to the ‘off’ position for 10 seconds. Attempt to start the vehicle. Some vehicles will run at this point, although many will require you repeat repeat Step 1 two more times. Make sure turn the key to the ‘off’ position for 10 seconds before each 10 minute cycle. Step 3 – The vehicle is now ready to relearn the proper code. Turn the key ‘off’ for 10 seconds and then ‘crank’ the vehicle. It should be running now. The security light might stay on solid for several minutes afterwards, depending on your system. What To Do If This Doesn’t Work In the even that reprogramming / resetting your Passlock or Passkey VATS system doesn’t work, you could try repeating the procedure; but most likely you’ll need to replace your ignition switch. In some cases the problem could be caused by your BCM (body control module) or poor wire connections (they tend to corrode after a few years, they’re not gold plated – bad move GM).
