In this video, we'll take a tour of the Engineering campus at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). I've made an effort to showcase all aspects of this university, including the canteens, hostels, schools, campus grounds, and the surrounding areas. The History of the University of Science Malaysia (USM):

The idea of having a university in Penang was first proposed by D. S. Ramanathan in 1959 during a State Assembly meeting. Later, he became the chairman of the Penang University Project Committee. The next significant step was the acquisition of land in Sungai Ara. Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman then laid the foundation stone for the university on 7 August 1967.

USM officially became a statutory body and the second university in Malaysia in 1969. Initially, it was known as the University of Penang (in Malay, Universiti Pulau Pinang). It started operating in borrowed facilities at the Malayan Teachers' Training College in Gelugor, with just 57 science-based students. However, in 1971, it moved to its current 239-hectare campus in Minden, which was formerly the Minden Barracks of the British Far East Command, located 10 kilometers from Georgetown.

In addition to the main campus, USM has two other campuses: one in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, called the Health Campus, and the other in Seri Ampangan, Nibong Tebal, Penang, known as the Engineering Campus. The Health Campus houses the School of Medical Sciences, the School of Health Sciences, and the School of Dental Sciences, while the Engineering Campus is home to six engineering schools.

On 3 September 2008, the Ministry of Higher Education, led by Mohamed Khaled Nordin, selected USM to implement the Accelerated Programme for Excellence (APEX). This program was designed to fast-track the development of higher education institutions and elevate them to world-class status."
