【Melodic Rock/AOR】Gregg Allman - I'll Be Holding On (Black Rain Theme) 1989~Emily's collection

【Pls look at the top comment first】I re-edit and re-upload this video on 8th December,2020 because the date is in the memory of the late musician, Gregg Allman, who was born on 8th December,1947 and died on 27th May,2017 at the age of 69. For his work in music, Allman was referred to as a Southern rock pioneer and received numerous awards, including one Grammy Award; he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Frankly, I do not know much about Southern rock. Is it a hybrid of rock, country and blues? It's just my knowledge after hearing some works in such a music genre. Definitely, I do remember the soulful voice of Gregg Allman, the uncommon experience in his music career and this solo masterpiece he sang for the theme of this classic film "Black Rain".

During 1980s and early 1990s, many action thriller films were gripping covering stories about crime, gangster, revenge and more. They don't seem to be any weaker than the present films whether in film plots or action sequences. Though this film "Black Rain" released by Paramount Pictures in 1989 , used to be a cult film during a certain periods of time because of some criticisms about its screenwriting, cliched story and lack of character development, the performance of Michael Douglas, Andy García and the late Japanese star Ken Takakura were all impressive by passionate fandom, because all of them are professional and dedicated actors undoubtedly as well as Yūsaku Matsuda(Black Rain was his final film role before his death that year) .

Moreover, Hans Zimmer's musical score for Black Rain is an indispensable part, which was nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Sound and Best Sound Editing. The melody of "I'll Be Holding On" was the soul of Black Rain. Today, I post the full length of this song which I uploaded many years ago in my country but was banned for some unfathomable reason, so I re-create and re-upload this music video of Gregg Allman with some of my edit. This is a soul-stirring melodic rock gem. If you really yearn for that golden 1980s, both the film and the song are well worth cherishing.
