(Film Purpose)
The main purpose of this film is to raise awareness on the continuous act of “dog dumping” that occurs every day in the Redlands. An area in South Florida that some have designated as dumping grounds for unwanted dogs. What makes this film especially unique is our subject whose perspective will be shared, Dan. The Redland area is home to Dan. He has dedicated his entire life to caring for abandoned dogs who wander the streets, especially at night to feed. He has witnessed countless homeless dogs in their weakest moments, some he has cared for and couldn’t take in or network has been found dead on the road. The pressure of wanting to help them all has left him depressed, all while managing his own health which has worsened over time. Focusing on 1 person's daily effort to make a difference in the life of as many dogs that he can physically care for, will demonstrate to viewers the effects that dog dumping has on a human being and the community he lives in. The harsh reality is that not every dog will be saved, but this film will allow more people to understand and see what is happening. If more people get involved like Dan, fewer dogs will suffer and more people will be held accountable for their inhumane actions.

After driving over 30 years in his own neighborhood, looking and caring for homeless dumped dogs, Dan, a 60-year-old man is left feeling hopeless. Hopeless because of the constant need for support and effort from his community to join him in the act of protecting and saving the lives of too many hurt, hungry, and suffering stray dogs to keep count of.

Dan’s story is inspiring and courageous. For those who do not know, the Redlands, between Homestead and the Everglades, has become a dumping ground for dogs. Dan works from morning to night feeding and caring for the dogs he finds. These dogs don’t always have a home to go to so more than often they are placed temporarily with fosters or kept with the individuals who found them until they can be adopted out after treatment.
