Our Favourite Tarn Swimming Spot in the Lake District

In the winter of 2023, we went in search of a beautiful mountain tarn up in the Lake District hills, famous for its stunning surroundings. It had a cool off-road bike route to it and we thought it'd be the ideal place for some wild swimming.

But, we went when the temperatures were hovering around freezing and there was SERIOUS fog. Though it was one of the most atmospheric rides and swims of our life, we couldn't see a thing - it was literally like swimming in the clouds.

Now that spring was springing, we wanted to head back for attempt no. 2 to see if the surrounding landscape really was as beautiful as we'd been told.
