union territory of ladakh, Northern part of India which share borders with China. Ladakh is in news these days but this time not because of its beauty but rising tensions along Line of actual control with China.
The particular area of India china standoff this time is Durbuk shyok daulat beg oldi also known as Dsdbo road.
durbuk shyok daulat beg oldi or Dsdbo road is 323 km road which connects Leh with indias highest and northernmost Airbase Daulat beg oldi in Ladakh region along with Line of actual control with China.
This Strategic Road Passes through Durbuk , shyok, and moves along shyok river further through many valleys and finally reaches Daulat beg oldi, advence landing ground, Indian airbase just 10kms from Line of actual control in Aksai chin in China and 9 kms from Karakoram Pass, giving Indian forces an easy and fast access to there regions.
Daulat beg oldi base was established in 1962 but after that it was not given much importance till 2008 when daulat beg oldi airbase was made operational again.
DSDBO road and Daulat beg oldi airbase is not the only concern for china,
from Dsdbo road there are many offshoot roads which gives Indian forces access to many stratergic features along line of actual control or LAC which China percive as threat to Aksai chin region, Which India claims as part of Ladakh and occupied by China since 1962.
Recently, India china standoff occured in one such offshoot road connecting strategic point in Galwan valley, which resulted in clashes and casualties on both sides.
China objected on contruction of this offshoot road connecting Galwan valley via dsdbo road but India didnt accepted any objection and continued with construction of road. India china faceoff is still continue in this area but India constructed an important bride to hold its position strongly there.
whole reason behind this dsdbo road ladakh, tension between India and China is unmarked and different perspectives and claims of Line of Actual control with China.
both India and China see LAC as different locations and at some points both holds positions far from each other and theres grey area inbetween where India and china often clashes during patrolling there areas. India's fast pace development of road networks and infrastructure in these area is considered as a threat to Aksai chin so china doesnt want indians to develop any kind of infrastructure along line of actual control to keep India away from Aksai chin which India claims as its part.
