Crochet Granny Heart Square (Turn a Crochet Heart Shape into a Square)

So many people asked if the Granny Heart Shape could be turned into a square and the answer is YES! Yes it can 😀❤ This method of squaring off gives a 3D textured effect to your square and is an interesting twist on traditional granny squares - definitely something different which I hope you all enjoy! In this video I go nice and slowly so you can crochet along with me.

🧶 Yarn & Hook information:

Pink & Grey square shown in the intro: Scheepjes Chunky Monkey with a 6mm Hook (yarn available to purchase here! https://bit.ly/3VgI6dN )

Varigated yarn heart square: Hayfield Spirit in Chunky, colourway "Sundown" and Stylecraft Chunky in colourway "Aspen" - I use a slightly too large hook for the tutorial, I would advise a 6mm hook for these yarns (Variegated yarn is available to purchase here: https://bit.ly/41N1rFB )

How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!

How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀

Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: https://www.hookedbyrobin.com The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website

How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's? Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
