WALKS IN DORSET at BRIANTSPUDDLE, CULPEPPERS DISH & TURNERS PUDDLE (4K)

In this episode of my series “Walks in Dorset”, I take a 4 mile circular walk from Culpeppers Dish which is located to the South of Briantspuddle in Dorset (about 2.5 miles South West of Bere Regis). Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan.

I parked my car, for free, at the Forestry England car park at Culpeppers Dish and started my walk with a look at the “dish” itself which is located just by the road to the North of the car park.

Culpeppers Dish is basically a very large sink hole or swallow hole that is 290 yards round & 47 yards deep.

I then headed East, past another sink hole, soon joining up with a section of the Hardy Way which took me North towards the village of Briantspuddle. On reaching the village, I headed East to the tiny hamlet of Throop and then on to Turners Puddle (which involved me crossing the River Piddle).

Passing by the Holy Trinity Church at Turners Puddle, I joined up with the Jubilee Trail & headed Westwards back to Briantspuddle.

After a wander through the village (and an ice cream at the shop), I kept on the Jubilee Trail heading South to explore part of the Bryants Puddle Heath & in particular the mysterious Rimsmoor Pond.

The final section of the route involved a short walk North back to the car park near Culpeppers Dish.

NB: In the video, I state that Forde Abbey is in Somerset. It is, in fact, located in Dorset, very close to the Somerset border.
