Gaston County is a robust county governmental organization with more than 30 departments serving the citizens of a county of nearly 228,000 residents. At the direction of our county manager, we have recently completed and adopted a strategic plan with a brand-new mission and vision statement, and we are doing work in the community to create a 2040 visioning plan.

Our theme for our current budget year is resiliency. We responded rapidly to COVID-19 to serve and protect the community, and help keep businesses and residents afloat through small business loan programs and direct aid to residents. We also kept our eye on the ball, continuing with our own construction projects (broke ground this summer on a new Child Advocacy Center) while continuing to market ourselves globally as a manufacturing hub, securing several commitments in one of our business parks for new European companies to build their North American Headquarters here. Our tagline is ‘Local Strengths. Global Success.’ and that definitely rings true in what we are doing.
