Imagine the vector physics a jungle runner uses. he sprints 100 meters north and then he suddenly changes direction and runs 200 meters west and a few seconds later he makes a sharp 90-degree turn and sprints 50 meters as he reaches his destination….and you can see by making use of vectors, our runner navigates the jungle quite easily.

All these arrows are vectors and the common thing is that every time the magnitude and the direction of the displacement has also been specified. So the formal definition of a vector is that a vector has both magnitude and direction and is represented by an arrow. When we talk about vectors, the most common examples of such physical quantities are displacement, velocity and acceleration…well you could say force is also one of the common ones.
