Brianna Barron, one of the 14 artists in the Artists as Influencers: Pathways in Glass exhibit at Krasl Art Center, provided the community with live demos in Water Street Glassworks' hot shop.

Brianna Barron:
Glass can be hard or soft, fragile or strong. It can be used to protect and preserve, yet is often perceived as fragile and weak. I am interested in exploring this conflicted relationship between glass and human perception.
Something I love about working with hot glass is the fact that the material is in a perpetual state of motion. It forces you to be present and completely immersed in the process.

My goal is to make objects that spark joy and curiosity, and evoke moments of presence thus forcing the viewer to see the material in a new light. This goal is achieved through compelling imagery, organic forms and repetition.
Found objects further push this notion of presence by allowing happenstance to inform the process. My work combines notions of the real and unreal, fact and fiction, until the line between the two becomes blurred. This allows the viewer to become immersed, if only for a moment, within the spaces I have created.
