Safer than the Alternative
I ordered this Nut Chopper because my old nut chopper that looked alot like it, but with round oval top and bottom was intrinsically unsafe. The Old Nut Chopper screwed apart in the middle, giving access to the chopped nuts. The problem with that is that the plastic threading was easy to over torque and so pieces of shorn off plastic could drop into the chopped nuts. Eventually even parts of the rim were breaking off. Yeah, so don't over torque when tightening the two halves together. Easier said then done, because if the the thing was screwed together loosely it would start to unscrew why trying to work the grinder and that would feel, well, distracting. It was almost as though THIS Nutcracker was designed to solve that problem. With THIS Nut Chopper the middle is fused together. Whole nuts go in from a flip top lid on top, and the ground nut reservoir can be accessed by pulling off the rubber cover. If some of the ground nuts fall back into the chopper side, well, you can dump them out afterwards by just flipping open the top. It seems sturdy enough. It's chopping mechanism is like the old Oval Defective Design Chopper and the chopping mechanism never broke down. This NEW Chopper seems like it might last a while. Oh, there is a design fixture that I just found out about. Grind it with your Right hand and you get a finer grind then if you grind from the Left. Open the top and look down and you will see that the Slots that the Grinder Blades slice down into are smaller on the one side than the other. Yes, all else being equal we would like smaller pieces than larger pieced, but if you can get used to grinding with your left hand then it is easier to get through a sack of nuts using the coarser side.
