“So who, or what, is Spooky Steve?”
There’s been a lot of chatter about this question, so I thought I’d clear up any confusion.
Spooky Steve is a character and a story put to song, intended to terrify children. Also to make them laugh. But mostly, to terrify them. In particular, my many nieces and nephews.
After much fanfare and anticipation, this three minute song will finally be released on Sunday night, one week before Halloween, along with a series of contests involving interpretive art, dance, literary criticism, and creative writing. These contests will be open to all my nieces and nephews, but also to all of my siblings and siblings-in-law, as well as to my parents, neighbors, and to all my fans and the citizens of Colorado, America, and the entire world. There will be prizes.
But really, it’s so much more than just a story and a song and a contest. It’s a vision, a philosophy, an ideology, a paradigm, and a journey. Not to oversell it, but it really is the summation of the entire human experience incorporating all senses, emotions, hopes, fears, ideas, and activities distilled into one three minute thrill ride through an existential tunnel of terror.
So beware of Spooky Steve.
He’s coming . . . Halloween 2021
