This course introduces Microsoft Word - one of the most powerful Word Processing packages belonging to the MS Office suite of office automation applications. You will learn to open the Word application, create and save documents and exit from the Word application. You will also learn about the Office Assistant - an inbuilt friendly digital-guide, which can be customized to your requirements. You will also learn about the various formatting features supported by Word and how to use Tables and Columns effectively in your documents. You will also learn to use the clipboard to duplicate or transfer information both within a document as well as between documents. You will learn about the various utilities, such as Spelling checker and Thesaurus that are available within the Word application to assist you in proof reading your documents and how to print your documents, by selecting a printer and specifying various options. You will see how to customize the formatting options to meet your specific requirements and how to uses Tab stops, Columns and Tables to organize columnar data. You will learn to access and modify User Information and File properties associated with the Word files you create and how to manage your files through Word. You will also see how to use the Automated tools such as AutoCorrect and AutoComplete. You will also be exposed to Mail Merge – a very useful tool that will allow you to quickly create personalized documents, such as letters and labels for multiple recipients. You will also see how Microsoft’s OLE technology can be used to share objects/data across applications. You will also learn to use various drawing and graphic elements to enhance your text. This course also discusses advance features of Word and is intended for people who are familiar with the concepts covered in the Beginners and Intermediate courses on Word. You will learn to uses Styles and Templates to create documents that have the same consistent appearance and formatting. You will also learn to create sub-documents and link them all through a Master document. You will learn to use built in fields such as Date, Time, TOC, Mail merge fields, Author, etc. to help you to keep your documents up-to-date with system information, or material from other sources. You will also learn to build a Table Of Contents (TOC) directly from the Heading styles that have been applied to the document. Another automated tool that you will learn about is the Macro - an amazing time saver for repetitive actions. You will also be exposed to more advanced features of Word, such as Auto Format and the Advanced Find and Replace options. You will also learn to customize the Word Options and Toolbars to your requirements. You will also learn about advanced features such as Bookmarks, Footnotes/ Endnotes, Word count, and Document maps, Outlines, File Conversions, Tracking Changes and Password Protection.
