JK Rowling doesn't like how popular the character is! The prolific author of the series has said several times that she disliked the fact that Malfoy has a fan base, and said that she feels people are confusing Tom Felton and his character. Whilst Tom gives Malfoy good looks and charm, ultimately she doesn't think the character should have any fans - he's cruel and bigoted, and would probably be an awful boyfriend. In fact, in an essay on Pottermore, she wrote “Draco was not concealing a heart of gold under all that sneering and prejudice and that no, he and Harry were not destined to end up best friends.”
