We bring you along our hike down white oak canyon trail and the falls and back up cedar run trail along the falls on that side all in the Shenandoah national park, we left from hawksbills gap parking lot. This hike is 8.1 miles round trip, 2480 feet of elevation gain and loss, the trail is rocky and steep, but the views and the falls are spectacular.
We did this trail as a test of our packs fully loaded to make sure the fits were correct. We have some longer overnight hikes planed this summer and we needed a test run and picked in my opinion one of the prettiest hikes in Virginia.
The hike is listed as moderate with lots of uneven terrain and steep climbs and plan for 7 and a half hours round trip. We did it in a little over 5 hours with stops to explore and eat some snacks, there are several water crossings along cedar run where you might get your feet wet depending on water levels.
This was a great day hike and we highly recommend it. Bonus when your done make sure you drive up to the grill at the wayside at big meadows and get some snacks or a good meal.
