Liberal MP Andrew Wallace says Treasurer Jim Chalmers has nothing other than “spin and his smile” after releasing his mid-year budget update.

Shadow treasurer Angus Taylor has accused Treasurer Jim Chalmers of “Orwellian spin” after he claimed “substantial progress” in the economy despite deficits growing by $22 billion.

“The reality is we have now got budget deficits for as long as the eye can see,” Mr Wallace told Sky News host James Macpherson.
