Introducing LOTUS Artist Ottaviano Cristofoli!

Ottaviano is a strong classical player living in Japan, holding the presigious position as Principal Trumpet in the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.

Here are his own words about the mouthpieces:

“The LOTUS mouthpieces are great; they’re different. I felt like it was something new for me. The improved intonation results in much more uniformity in the sound. I’m very happy and in awe.

Playing for a while on the mouthpiece kind of unlocked something. I find it kind of therapeutic in a way. They help to unlock some blocks that I had, especially in the high register and with the air. I keep one with me all the time.”

Born in Udine in 1986, Ottaviano Cristofoli began studying with profz Fabiano Cudiz the trumpet at the age of 10 and graduated from the Conservatory of Udine at 17.
He performed as principal trumpet with major international orchestras including Orchestra Del Teatro Dell'Opera Di Roma, Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice, Seoul philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra and many others.

He moved to Japan in 2008 and became the co-principal trumpet at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra (PAC) in Kobe with artistic director Yutaka Sado. In 2009, he became a member of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and currently holds a position as the Solo Trumpet.

Since 2016, he has been a member of “Samurai BRASS” which consists of top brass musicians in Japan. He is also passionate about teaching and inspiring younger generations, and in 2019 founded a music academy “Music System Japan Italy/Japan” where he is the Artistic Director.

He released two solo CD with Nippon Acoustic records and a third is on the way, a reinvention of Vivaldi the four seasons written Italian composer and jazz arranger Mario Corvini. To be released in June 2023 (performed on LOTUS mouthpieces).
