The Delian League and Rise of the Athenian Empire

Following the Battle of Mycale, The Athenians took an aggressive approach of establishing dominance over the Persian Empire in the Aegean Sea. This led to the establishment of the Delian League. Members of the League around the Aegean Sea payed tribute to a treasury in return for protection from enemies.
