On February 27, 2020, the Right Honorable Daniel Ogbuabor spoke at Duke about the importance of health diplomacy as a driver of global health equity, particularly in an international health crisis.

2020 Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI) Fellow, Ogbuabor is a physician, public health specialist, health economist, public administrator, and a former Member of Parliament and Chairman of the House Committee on Health in Nigeria’s Enugu State. In the lecture, he offered a broad overview of health diplomacy, highlighting real world success stories during global health crises, as well as provided his insights on the current COVID-19 crisis.

The event was organized by the Duke University Center for International and Global Studies (DUCIGS) for the Rethinking Diplomacy series, in collaboration with the Duke Center for Policy Impact in Global Health at DGHI. The event supported by the Josiah Charles Trent Memorial Foundation Endowment.
