How to paint a Fox - Watercolour painting demonstration

Описание к видео How to paint a Fox - Watercolour painting demonstration

This watercolour demonstration painting of a Fox shows how to use watercolours effectively. In this video you will see how I use thin washes, working from the lightest light to the darkest dark. I used a dry brush technique with a cheap Chinese brush to indicate the fox's coat. Chinese brushes are ideal for splaying out the hairs for dry brush work like this. I also used the side of a rigger brush to create texture. You can learn a lot about using watercolours by copying and practicing from this picture and others that I will be posting over the coming months. At the end of the painting you will see me using watercolour spatter for a dynamic finish.

Colours used were Winsor&Newton Aureolin, Yellow Ochre, Bunt Umber, Ultramarine and Burnt Sienna. Plus white gouache for some highlights.

Paper: Bockingford 300g rough white watercolour paper.
