SPEED KILLS | Cliff Branch | Raiders History



Recognized as a significant turning point, Cliff Branch embodied what Al Davis sought in a wide receiver throughout his decades leading the Raiders. Upon joining Oakland, Branch brought with him the essential speed to energize the Raiders. As he honed his speed and cultivated reliable hands, he became unstoppable.

Closing his career, Branch sported three Super Bowl rings and held the record for postseason receiving yards. Only Jerry Rice would later surpass Branch by winning more Super Bowls. Nevertheless, Branch remains fourth on the all-time list.
