Little River Canyon

Recorded October 26, 2019

This video covers my scenic autumn visit to the Little River Canyon National Preserve on top of Lookout Mountain near Fort Payne, Alabama. The preserve protects what is sometimes said to be the nation's longest mountaintop river, the Little River. The undammed river is said to be among the cleanest and wildest waterways in the South. Sandstone cliffs tower up to 600 feet above the narrow canyon floor and are frequently visible from the 23-mile scenic parkway which is featured in this video. Little River Falls is located within the preserve and marks the beginning of the Little River Canyon. Grace's High Falls, which falls into the side canyon created by Bear Creek is Alabama's highest waterfall at 133 feet. Other overlooks visited in this video are Lynn Overlook, Hawks Glide, Canyon View, Wolf Creek Overlook and Eberhart Point Overlook.

After leaving the preserve I drive 39 miles south to Gadsden, Alabama to visit Noccalula Falls which plunges 90-feet into the Black Creek Gorge.
