In November, this year Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the Surat Diamond Bourse, which has overtaken USA's Pentagon to be the world's largest office building. At the time of completion of the building PM Modi had said that the Surat Diamond Bourse showcases the dynamism and growth of Surat's diamond industry.

The project is expected to generate additional annual revenue of 90,000 crore (10.9 Billion USD) with new commercial and mixed-use development, schools, hospitals, hotels, convention halls, and sports complexes underway.
The construction of this megastructure took four years and six months.
Surat Diamond Bourse will be the one-stop destination for international diamond trade in India. It is built in a democratic manner, as a cooperative, and is a result of their collective agency.

The bourse consolidates all functions related to the diamond trade under one roof, and with multiple sizes and office configurations, provides a level playing field for small, medium, and large diamond traders.
