Analysis of the Pushtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM)

I have been seeing a growing reactionary campaign against the PTM on social media. Some pro-state websites are calling them traitors, raw agents, and foreign agents. Such a ridiculous analysis prevents us from taking stock of what is really going on. After 11 years of war with the Taliban, people are experiencing extreme war weariness. And with terrorist attacks down by almost 60%, people want some relief in their lives. Hence, the demands demilitarisation of society and constitutional safeguards of all citizens of Pakistan are entirely legitimate demands of the PTM.

Hence it is time for slow demilitarisation
1. Reduce number of check posts
2. Remove landmines
3. Abolish military courts ATC
4. Remove barbed wire in public venues
5. Reduce number of armed police in streets and schools
6. No more missing persons. Produce before court.
7. Constitutional safeguards of citizens must be respected by the state
8. No recriminations against leaders of the PTM
