Rear Coil Spring Installation for GX470/460, 4Runner, FJC

Learn how to replace your rear coil springs on GX470/460, 4Runner, FJC in this step by step tutorial. We will be installing Icon overlanding coil springs on a GX470 but the process will be the same for GX460, 4Runner and FJC. Metal Tech 4x4 recently got this vehicle in the shop for an install and documented the process to show our tips and tricks behind replacing coil springs.

We swapped out the old springs because the customer had built out his vehicle for overlanding which weighed down its rear end, hence needing larger coil springs to support the added weight. This install was completed on a lift but the same steps can be taken at home using a car jack
