Brigadier General Steven W. Gilland assumed command as Commandant of the US Corps of Cadets at the US Military Academy at a ceremony on June 23, 2017.

BG Gilland most recently served in Iraq as the Deputy Commanding General of Operations for the 101st Airborne Division. Previously the '90 graduate of the USMA had served with the 24th Infantry Division, 2nd Infantry Division, 75th Ranger Regiment, US Army Special Operations Command, the 1st Cavalry Division, and most recently the 101st Airborne.
