How To Calculate Your Holiday Entitlement

Описание к видео How To Calculate Your Holiday Entitlement

Holiday entitlement is one of those things that can be super confusing and yet it's actually quite straight forward. In this video I run through the calculation you need to know (and do) in order to get your head around your holiday entitlement.

There is a very simple calculation you can do which I've outlined below:

1. Holiday entitlement variable = 5.6 (this includes the bank holidays)
2. You need to decide if you want to calculate your holiday entitlement in hours or days. I recommend days where possible but if you work a different number of hours per shift then hours can be a bit more straightforward.

Calculation:
Total annual holiday entitlement = 5.6 * days/hours worked per week
Monthly accrual rate: Total annual holiday entitlement / 12 months

Example;
Jo works 4 days per week

Total holiday entitlement = 5.6 * 4 = 22.4* days per year
Monthly accrual rate = 22.4 / 12 months = 1.87 days per month

*Total holiday entitlement is always rounded up or down to the nearest full or half day. Therefore:
Total holiday entitlement = 22.5 days per year

**The holiday calculation above includes any working days that fall on bank holidays and there are 8 bank holidays per year in England.
