Obra comentada: La Vista, de Pedro Pablo Rubens y Jan Brueghel el Viejo

Teresa Posada, Conservadora del Departamento de Pintura Flamenca y de las Escuelas del Norte del Museo del Prado, comenta la obra de arte "La Vista" (1617) de Pedro Pablo Rubens y Jan Brueghel el Viejo.

Esta es una de las colaboraciones entre Jan Brueghel el Viejo y Rubens, un conjunto de pinturas que representan la alegoría de los cinco sentidos. La tradición pictórica en la que fue formado Jan Brueghel el Viejo, que aprendió junto a su abuela la miniaturista Maria Bessemers, convierte esta colaboración en un conjunto perfecto donde la perfección y precisión de la pincelada del primero se complementa con la vívida representación de las figuras del segundo.

Commented work: Sight, by Jan Brueghel and Peter Paul Rubens

Teresa Posada, Curator of the Department of Flemish painting and Northern Schools at the Museo Nacional del Prado, comments on the work "Sight" by Jan Brueghel and Peter Paul Rubens.

This set of paintings on the five senses was one of the most successful collaborations of Peter Paul Rubens and Jan Brueghel “the Elder”. Rubens placed his figures in the magnificent courtly scenes created by Brueghel as settings for these allegories of the senses, resulting in a series of enormous quality and esthetic appeal. The subject was widely employed in Flemish painting. Sight was considered the most important of the senses since the time of Aristotle.
